A. Abstract Submission : Abstracts are 250 words or less and submitted in text only format via e-mail to ASA for the Science Review Committee. Please list the Title, Authors, Full Address. No figures, tables, or references in the Abstract. Include five key words related to topic area.

There are many ways to evaluate the hazards of toxic chemicals and the importance and safety needed to use these chemicals. In previous talks we explored the evaluation using a traditional risk-based approach, toxicity x amount, and combined that with a few other properties of either the chemical or facility. We examined the risk of floods and wind storms and rated a few of the more common chemicals for toxic effects and environmental persistence. In this paper, we examine the risks from releases, with an emphasis on how much chemical is stored, frequency of use, availability of medical treatments, and evaluate on-site or off-site medical treatments for exposures to these chemicals, whether the exposures are a result of industrial mishaps or intentional terrorist use. We will look at a variety of common industrial chemicals, including the various cyanide containing compounds (isocyanates, nitriles, etc.), amyl nitrite, diisopropylfluorophosphate, butyric acid, chloroacetic acid and others. Some of the key determinants in these analyses are the amounts of these chemicals in a location and the ease of dispersals.

B. Papers All papers must be sent by e-mail to the CBMTS Organizing Committee before the meeting.
Upon receipt and approval of Paper submission, an official Invitation Letter will be issued. If you will need extra time to get your visas and to work with the officials in your country, please submit the paper as soon as possible. If changes in the paper are required as a result of discussions at the meeting, these will be made either at the meeting or within weeks after the meeting. ANYONE RECEIVING TRAVEL SUPPORT FROM THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE TO PRESENT A PAPER OR POSTER MUST HAVE SUBMITTED A PAPER BEFORE SUPPORT CAN BE GIVEN.
C. The papers are limited to five (5) pages of text, plus three (3) tables and three (3) figures, plus references, in Word (approximately 2400 – 3000 words). There is some flexibility for variation within this. In some cases the paper may contain enough new data to require either more text or more figures and tables. Please contact Dr. Barbara Price . See Example below.
D. Do NOT send pdf files. Only Word files.
Do NOT use any styles or special fonts in the paper.
Please REMOVE ALL style commands. (These are often hidden in Word and other wordprocessor programs.)
Do NOT use the automatic numbering or footnotes in Word.
Please send a copy of the paper in "text only" format along with the formatted version. If it is necessary, ASA will remove all styles and will not look for any information that may be lost in the translation. This includes footnotes, superscripts and subscripts.
E. . Do NOT embed Tables or Figures in the Word file. Send them separately.
Tables must be in separate files in Excel. Do NOT send tables in Word. If you use a spreadsheet program to make a graph, please supply the tabulated data as well.
We will not accept Tables that must use landscape paper. All Tables must fit on A4 paper, portrait style.
F. The Proceedings will be published, therefore please send graphics in one of the following formats, eps, tiff, pdf or jpeg. Figures in Word (.doc) are generally not in sufficient resolution for printing.
G. Do NOT put references in footnotes . Please list them at the end of the paper. If the references are in the footnotes they may be invisible in other word processing programs. The organizers will make no effort to find them.
1. Margins are 1.0 inches or 2.54 cm all around. Left justified.
2. Basic tabs are at 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 inch or 3.2 and 3.8 cm. Others may be used for special indentation
3. Font is Times New Roman size 12 point. All text is justified. Table and figure captions are also justified.
4. Titles are all caps, bold.
5. Authors are regular type, one line space, no bold. Names of the authors are given name followed by family name. The place where the work was performed is given in the next 2 or 3 lines. Institute, street address, city, state, country. The address must be sufficient for mailed inquiries.
6. The paper starts one line space after authors.
7. Major headings in paper are bold, all caps ( ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION, METHODS, RESULTS, CONCLUSIONS, REFERENCES, KEY WORDS, FIGURES AND TABLES, etc.) If you have sent the file as a text only file, the headings will not be bold. This is OK. We would rather add the bold style than take it out.
8. One line space before each major heading
9. Put all tables and figures at the end of each paper.
10. No more than 3 tables and 3 figures
11.Tables should be in Excel. They must be in a separate file and not embedded in the text file of either Word.
12. Key words should be listed after the references and before the tables and figures.
